• This website is built using Jekyll, and hosted for free at Github.
• The design is my own modification of the out-of-the-box Jekyll theme Minima.
• I’m a big fan of Reclaim Hosting, a hosting service geared toward educators and institutions. Their service is versatile and user-friendly (even for less techy folks) and gives students, teachers, and researchers a great option for online publishing.
• I was first inspired to construct this site after watching the YouTube tutorial videos by Travis Neilson on the YouTube Channel DevTipsforDesigners. Travis has since moved on to other things, but the channel is maintained by others and continues to produce guides and tips for those interested in nerding out with computer code.
• I’ve also been variously influenced by the crew over at the Research Hacking slack, especially Nicholas Cifuentes-Goodbody who started the group. Nick also has some helpful YouTube videos with guides and advice for students and researchers looking to utilize technology in their scholarly work.
• From time to time, I make use of free-to-use images. One of my favorite sites for these images is Gratisography.
• I also have found the list of free online resources at GrowthSupply.com very helpful.
• My technical skills wouldn’t be what they are without the patience and tutelage of folks in the Digital Scholarship Lab at the University of Rochester. They are amazing people doing amazing work.
